Arrival to Juba & Drive to Mundari Tribal Land
Upon your arrival in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, you will be greeted by our team and driven to a hotel for a delicious lunch. Afterward, we embark on a short drive to the enchanting Mundari village settlements, located just 20 kilometers away. The Mundari tribe is known for their nomadic lifestyle and their settlements vary between the Tarekeka area and the vicinity of Juba, depending on grazing lands availability. We will mingle with the tribe as they return with their cattle around 5:00 pm, providing an opportunity to witness their unique way of life. Overnight camping will be arranged in the Mundari village, allowing you to immerse yourself in this fascinating culture.
Half Day with Mundari – Drive to Dinka Village in Minkamin
Rise early at 5:30-6:00 am to witness the morning routine and activities of the Mundari tribe. Spend a half day observing their customs and traditions before we drive to the Dinka village in Minkamin. The Dinka tribe is one of the largest ethnic groups in South Sudan, known for their cattle-keeping traditions and vibrant cultural practices. Overnight camping will be arranged in the Dinka village, providing an opportunity for further exploration and cultural immersion.
Overnight Camping under the stars with Dinka people
After breakfast, we depart from the Dinka village and drive to the village of the Lopit tribe. The Lopit people are known for their unique customs and traditions, and this visit will offer a glimpse into their way of life. Overnight camping will be arranged in the Lopit village, allowing you to experience their hospitality and learn about their ethnography.
In the morning, we drive to Lotuko, a region rich in cultural heritage. From there, we proceed to the Boya tribe, located in the scenic Imatong Hills. The Boya people are renowned for their craftsmanship and agricultural practices. Overnight camping will be arranged in the Boya village, providing an opportunity to explore the stunning surroundings and engage with the local community.
After breakfast, we continue our journey to Kapoeta, a vibrant town in South Sudan. Upon arrival, we visit the daily market of the Topposa tribe, known for their unique traditions and vibrant culture. In the afternoon, we drive to Pariang, an area famous for its gold mining activity along the riverbanks. Later in the day, we return to Kapoeta. Overnight accommodation will be provided at Kuleu Hotel in Kapoeta.
Today, we embark on a drive to Koteen Mountains, home to the remote Topposa village. Explore the village in-depth, witnessing their daily activities and getting a deeper understanding of their way of life. In the early morning, we visit the village before driving to Nimule town. Overnight accommodation will be provided at a hotel in Nimule, allowing for a comfortable stay after a day of exploration.
After breakfast, we spend the morning in Koteen village, immersing ourselves in the local culture and bidding farewell to the Topposa tribe. In the afternoon, we drive back to Kapoeta and catch a flight back to Juba. Overnight accommodation will be arranged at the Royal Palace, allowing you to relax and reflect on the incredible experiences of the past days.
